Community Afghan, Crocheting, Quilting, Doing Hair

Here is a photo of Mecca celebrating her birthday with the kittens! This was February 4, 2011!

On Feb 18, 2011 we had some fun on Knit Night!

Woodina is moving along nicely on our community quilt! She is really enjoying the project. I wish I had a picture to post, but she has added a lovely red, and is planning to add wisteria - a soft muted lavender.

Sarah has perfected her crocheting and showed up with a beautiful start to her pink blanket. She left us on Feb 11 as a determined crocheter! Now she has beautiful stitches! Sarah, send us a picture.

We almost had some purple hair -! And, we discussed doing some spiral curls with a curling wand! Oh what talents we all bring to Knit Night! Thanks, Sarah!

Denise brought some abasolutely stunning quilt projects to share. My favorite is the Civil War quilt from a "Quilt of the Month" project. Each square has some real Civil War history. Denise send some pictures and I'll post them.

She also shared a great idea for a community knitting/crocheting an afghan project. I think it can work for us after we get the current project finished (with Woodina on it, it won't be long). It works like this: Everyone starts their own afghan and places the project with their own yarn in a plastic tote box. Each knit night or designated time (maybe every 2 weeks) you pass the boxes on to someone else to do so many inches/rows/squares on the project in the box. Well, it is hard to explain here, but I think it is a great idea. Denise can share more on this.

My granny square scarf is coming along nicely. It actually has inspired me to crochet at least one square every night - to be productive with my needlework.

I ordered a couple of really good needlework books on Amazon. I'll tell you all about them this Friday night.

I think I am making a Baked Omelet for this Friday night!

I hope all our knitting kittens are well and can make it this Friday.

Okay, I am going to close this post and publish it. I already lost the first attempt at this post - it was long and good and the website lost it before it was saved ughhhhhhhhhhhh!

Knitters are Sewing!

Look at what we have been doing at Knit Night - yes more than knitting - are we knitting at all? We are crocheting and sewing!

Take a look at what is happening to the Knitting Kittens! They are sewing! Thank you Denise for visiting a couple weeks ago and demonstrating the contagious technique!

And - it appears we have inspired at least 2 kittens to explore the antique Featherweight sewing machine. June, we can't wait to see your new machine.

We've had a lot of crocheting going on. Not much knitting. I think things will pick up!

Woodina is currently adding many colorfully appealing rows to the Knitter's community afghan!

Oh, and the food! We have had some delicious dishes served!

Some new members of our group include:
Mecca
Carly
Jessie

We are so glad they have joined us! We hope to see Denise back soon.
Alas, we have been sorely missing some kittens - Shane, Jackie, Molly - we hope they are healthy and feeling well enough to join us this Friday night - February 11, 2011 - Love will be in the air - a Valentines Theme!
