Boeuf Bourguignon

Who went to bed about 3am on May 5, 2010?

Yes, it was Volley and Angie Kitties after a long adventure into the world of Arianne and Julia's Boeuf Bourguignon!

Advice - Study the recipe ahead of time! Lay out your cooking supplies! Have a plan!

As of 8am this morning I finally strained the broth off the casserole and have everything ready to add to the casserole and heat it up when we get home for our next Knit Knit adventure.

We Knittin Again

Hello Kittens

Last Wednesday (April 28, 2010) was a real treat! We actually got back to our needles - thanks to Bug Kitty who brought big bags of yarn she scored at the last Kenny Bland Auction. Oh my there were yarns of every color and variety - big white trash bags full.

Miss Kitty (aka Shane Kitty) made a showing with a crochet hook. She chose a beautiful blue swirl yarn to begin creating Molly a scarf. Alas, at the end of the evening it looked like a pyramid and she had to take it out. She will begin again. It really wasn't as wide as she wanted, anyway. But at least she got her warm-up in.

Queen crocheted a 6 stitch chain - but she did get a crochet hook in her hand.

Tom Kitten was working on his beautiful ripple throw afghan.

Bug Kitty proclaimed she is only doing one more skein on her plum ripple afghan. She's tired of it! She is having trouble remembering that she promised the finished throw to Angie Kitty.

Angie Kitty tried out some vintage white nylon yarn from the stash. It knitted up into a lovely hand. Bug has about 10 skeins of that. Would make a great headband. Maybe old-time potholders would be good with that yarn.

I haven't mentioned food. Well, there was plenty of great fixins as usual.

Roast Beef with plenty of sweet carrots - thank you Bug
Lovely mashed potatoes - thank you Golden Kitten
Divine Sweet Potato Casserole/pie - thank you Queen
Apple Cobbler - thank you Tom and DO
Angel Cupcakes - thank you Princess Kitty
Cinnamon rolls - we thought the can was biscuits, so we ended up with cinnamon rolls.
What did I forget???? Help Kittens - post a comment!

Sam Kitten arrived in time to eat and make a nap on the recliner serenading us with a beat for our stitches.

The baby kittens - aka Princess Kitty, Volley Kitty, and Cougar Kitty played outside in the beautiful weather jumping on the trampoline and taking a walk in the neighborhood.

Ash Kitty slept.

Playing in the background was "Lady Jane," on the big screen.

We sure missed Woo Kitty. Please come back Woo!

Oh - other Kitty News:

Garland had her spring ballet on May 1, 2010 - she danced beautifully. See her photo leaving the Musical Arts Center!

Bug and Volley Kitties attended the great annual Vera Bradley Sale in Ft. Wayne. Volley Kitty was lucky to have a grandma Bug drive her to Ft. Wayne. See her in the photo at the big event? They made few purchases, but had a good time.

The Kittens Kick Off a Blog

Well, the Kittens were really inspired last week by Julie & Julia! - April 21, 2010

We hope to make this Blog a great beginning and archive of our adventures across Wednesday nights.

We need a history overview of our special little group - which we will add later. But for now, Arianne, Garland, and Angie want to get this Blog launched into Cyberspace!

The Kittens watched Julie & Julia and only 2 kits did their needlework. After a lovely meal, as usual, we retired to the living room. There were great promises of productive needlework and a demonstration via YouTube of how to fold a t-shirt. However ...... The movie captivated us, and only 2 Kits actually made any stitches.

The foods served were out of this world as usual!

Some highlights:

Bug's Quiche
Queen's Peanut Butter Blondies (a debate over whether she followed a recipe or not),
.... also she brought a delicious pasta salad with cheese.
Volley Kitty's Chocolate Pie (thanks to Grandma's extra baked pie shell).
Tom Kitten's Lovely Rice and the delicious corn salad.
Woo brought an out of this world pasta salad - bow ties and sundried tomatoes.
Princess Kitty professed she would bake Mississippi Mudd cake - but it never materialized.
Angie Kitty - aka Lead Kitten - provided some iced tea, and leftovers salads.

Missing on this important night were some important Kits:

Cougar Kit and her Mama - Shane Kitty - Princess Kitty was so sad at their absence!
Golden Kitten (Donald - named by Arianne)

Ok - we are going to post this for now and see what happens.
We expect this Blog to improve over time and for all the Kittens to participate and add their comments inspiration!
